I had purses in mind as I did this weaving. I planned to weave sections for as many purses as I could get out of the warp. I measured a half way point, took notes about the yarn I used, how many passes (shots), how many inches (ok, I mix metric and imperial
I built the frame with a fancy little mitre saw with my own little hands. I made a model out of popsicle sticks first, because although I have done woodwork, and used lots of tools, I don't really understand "sturdy" construction.
I was happy with the way it turned out. My son helped me, and he learned about "sturdy" construction. ; )
It was displayed as an installation piece in a juried art show. I don't think many people understood it, but I was happy to show it. I sent my sister pics to NY and she thought it looked like a waterfall. I like that analogy. The waterfall of life.
This weekend (barring rain) it will be on display at the Victoria Fibre Art Festival. It may feel more at home there with all the other fibres. : )
Have a great night!
ciao
love as much as you can
