Ms. iN tHe PiNk

This funky purse has some bead work, & applique as features. Once again it Incorporated recycled leather, and satin. I really enjoyed making this piece, and I had so many great ideas for a number of pieces arising out of its inception. These purses were a breakthrough for me as well as a breakdown. It was a strange time. A confusing time. Nonetheless it was a time full of love, and learning.

Tam modelled the purse in a garden fashion show at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Tam and I met at the Port Moody Wearable Art Competition. She does amazing metal art. She displayed a piece of her work in the Vagina Monologue's concurrent Art Show that I curated, and Ken Flett hung for me. He transformed that space amazingly!

Before I sewed the appliqued panel into the purse, I made a rubbing of it. It was sooooo cool!! I loved that part almost more than the whole making of the purse. I have so many good ideas about what to do with the rubbings. : )

I also did some bead work inside on the lining. The beads are couched onto the fabric.
A big heart went into this purse!

Let love in, and out (!), of your heart all you can.

Peace, man.

NeW WoMaN AppliQue

I came back from the Victoria fiberfest inspired, but pooped. What a wet weekend! Well, that's the west coast for you... but in June?? It did clear up by 2pm at the Knit OUT, but not before my tent blew over...

The display of the weaving waterfall, and Rosie didn't budge, and they seemed to enjoy the breezes, although I'm sure Rosie must have been cold. I thought she needed a "hand knitted shawl", but none was available, so she braved the elements. : ) (I'll post a pic of Rosie, beside the Pacific, in her onion bag mesh outfit later) Anyway, all in all it was a great experience, with a waterfront sleeping arrangement to boot!

Lately I have been trying to fit in some sewing, and or designing, on my own clothes, and projects, between the alterations. I resewed all the appliques on a pair of purchased pants because they were all going to fray right off the fabric the first time I washed them. They inspired me to start to create this design for a little vignette of people in applique, stitchery, and embellishment to go on a pair of soft tan cords, I picked up somewhere... probably for free because someone ran some blue, in the wash, onto the front where I am going to apply the apq.

I will be doing lots of stitching on top of these figures, and flowers.

This should be interesting. But not stupid. Ha!

Jane, if you're checking out this pic you should find something of special interest to you......., it's still on my work table.
